Today, I am at the Boulia Camel Races 2026, Australia’s most prestigious camel race, in Outback Queensland.
I am taking part in Carter’s Legacy Ride, a postie bike ride from Bendigo Victoria, to Boulia, in memory of Carter Keeble, who was lost in a tragic accident early last year, just before his 4th birthday. So far, we have raised over $25,000 for the Boort District Hospital, which has been a huge support to Carter’s parents Ben and Lori, and to the whole family.
We set off from the Allies Hotel at Bendigo, North Central Victoria on Monday 6th July 2026, and have been riding our postie bikes, along with our support crew, until we arrived at Boulia yesterday afternoon.
After leaving Bendigo, we rode to Boort, where the community provided us with lunch, before heading to Nyah for the night where the Kerang 4WD club provided us with tea.
Our original planned route was flooded out, so we headed a bit further towards the coast and followed a route which was far more bitumen than was originally planned. We camped in NSW at Hay, Cobar, Enngonia, and then in QLD at Hungerford, Noccundra, a rest area near Eromanga, Betoota, Birdsville and Bedourie.
Our 9 Honda postie bikes and support vehicles travelled a total distance of 2,819km over 10 days.
This morning, the team at the Boulia Camel Races invited us with our bikes out onto the racetrack for an hour, where they spoke with us and invited the crowd to come and meet us. We thank the Boulia Camel Races very much for their support.
I will be doing some interviews over the next few days as we meet people at the races.
If anyone is at the races and would like to catch up, send us a message.
